Summary

Dr。 Seuss in a glowing new format!

What were we waiting for? We’ve taken the classic Dr。 Seuss short story What Was I Scared Of? (from The Sneetches and Other Stories), added glow-in-the-dark ink, and created the ultimate just-slightly-spooky read for slumber parties and perusal by flashlight! Perfect for Halloween, this splendidly silly story about a narrator terrorized by an empty pair of pants (which happens to be equally terrified of the narrator) works perfectly well the rest of the year, too, delivering a timeless message about fear and tolerance to boot。 Scaredy-pants of all ages will quiver with delight!

Adding to a list of questions I never expected to be asked by my niece - “Why aren’t you scared of pants?” and “Are hats scary?”

I love Dr。 Suess! Thank you so much to Random House for Young Readers for sending me this perfect spooky children’s book! It is so much fun and does not disappoint。 What's a pair of empty green pants doing standing by itself in the woods? Or riding a bike in Grin-itch? Or fishing on Roover River? 4。5 stars & 5/10 hearts。 I was super impressed about this one。 What a great way to a) talk about the dangers of letting your imagination run away with you, b) discuss fear of strange things, and c) explain how important it is to actually get to know someone。 An excellent little story! And I began to see That I was just as strange to themAs they were strange to me!

This was a cute and slightly spooky read as we follow our main character on a walk and, out of nowhere, a pair of pants appears! Our character tries to run but he eventually realizes there's something more to these pants than meets the eye。 Now this was a new to me Dr。 Seuss book and I really enjoyed it! I gave this three out of five stars and would recommend as a 'ghost' story or for around Halloween to break up the usual monster read alongs。 This was a cute and slightly spooky read as we follow our main character on a walk and, out of nowhere, a pair of pants appears! I also love this one。 It's honestly one of Seuss's tales I don't remember reading as a child but discovered as I got older。 In fact, I know for sure I never read it as a kid as it would have been my favorite had I known of it given my love of horror related material even at a young age, and it is a delight to read this one to my daughter。 The wordplay is clever, the morals nice, the artwork fun and the glow in the dark aspect of the pants a charming bonus。 The perfect read for those who want to share a horror (but not too scary) story with their younger readers。 5/5 stars。 。。。more

John (six years old):I liked this book, but not as well as Cat in the Hat or Green Eggs and Ham。 It was funny when he found the pants。 It was kind of funny that he hid in a Brickel bush, and all the silly scares were funny。 It's kind of cool that it could glow in the dark。 But I don't like stickers, so I didn't like them in the back of the book。(view spoiler)[The main character saw floating pants and wasn't scared at the beginning。 Then the pants started running and he got scared。 After some sil John (six years old):I liked this book, but not as well as Cat in the Hat or Green Eggs and Ham。 It was funny when he found the pants。 It was kind of funny that he hid in a Brickel bush, and all the silly scares were funny。 It's kind of cool that it could glow in the dark。 But I don't like stickers, so I didn't like them in the back of the book。(view spoiler)[The main character saw floating pants and wasn't scared at the beginning。 Then the pants started running and he got scared。 After some silliness, they met again and the pants started crying。 Finally, they become friends because they both were scared。 (hide spoiler)] 。。。more

Dr。Seuss has always been an amazing author especially for younger kids who love picture books。 What Was I Scared Of was a very simple but great book。 He was simply afraid of a pair of green pants, there is 32 pages and is possibly for ages 3-9。 The story was based in the present I believe in the Lorax "world" where most of his books are set in。 In the end the characters become friends and learn that the green pants where actually more afraid of him than he was them。 The book shows kids to not be Dr。Seuss has always been an amazing author especially for younger kids who love picture books。 What Was I Scared Of was a very simple but great book。 He was simply afraid of a pair of green pants, there is 32 pages and is possibly for ages 3-9。 The story was based in the present I believe in the Lorax "world" where most of his books are set in。 In the end the characters become friends and learn that the green pants where actually more afraid of him than he was them。 The book shows kids to not be afraid and don't judge others。 。。。more

This book by dr。 suess is a cute book。 This can be read around Halloween and during morning meeting。 The character in the book, sees some strange things but he doesn't really want to find out but whereer he went he seen something else strange to him。 I love how it gives a message to children about fear。 It also teaches that just because someone is different you shouldn't be afraid of them。 get to know them and accept each other's differences。 In the beginning you think it may be a monster but to This book by dr。 suess is a cute book。 This can be read around Halloween and during morning meeting。 The character in the book, sees some strange things but he doesn't really want to find out but whereer he went he seen something else strange to him。 I love how it gives a message to children about fear。 It also teaches that just because someone is different you shouldn't be afraid of them。 get to know them and accept each other's differences。 In the beginning you think it may be a monster but to your surprise it is something else。 。。。more

This was a cute book。 I am a huge Dr。 Seuss fan。 This book in particular will help children who are fearful of the dark or fearful of anything。 Dr。 Seuss always keeps you engaged with his illustrations。 Overall good book。

Dr。 Seuss can always be relied to deliver a great entertaining rhyme and the fact that this edition had a glow in the dark cover madecus enjoy it even more! The story is fun spooky tale as the narrator is scared by a pair of pale green floating trousers, only to discover that they are just as scared of him。It's a nice message that something that might appear odd and strange at first probably isn't that scary at all。 Dr。 Seuss can always be relied to deliver a great entertaining rhyme and the fact that this edition had a glow in the dark cover madecus enjoy it even more! The story is fun spooky tale as the narrator is scared by a pair of pale green floating trousers, only to discover that they are just as scared of him。It's a nice message that something that might appear odd and strange at first probably isn't that scary at all。 。。。more

This book is weird。 But great! We got it as a gift, it's not something I would have picked out。 And my then 2 year old loved it - she's a fan of the spooky。 It's funny to read it with her over time because as she got a bit older she felt more freaked out by the pants, but still liked returning to the story。 A strange detail in our copy is that it's glow in the dark, which is odd but kind of fun, and came with stickers in the back。This is a Dr。 Seuss more like Horton Hears a Who or The Grinch, an This book is weird。 But great!
